Dear support group today I was trying to create a new organization and after filling out the required credentials the click test button. The process returned successful and then after clicking okay it came back with errors listed below.

Please let me know on how need to be done here to resolve the error message. Currently running on Window 10 Enterprise Ver 1809.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Nick

Hi Nick,

There should be a couple of events in the Windows Application event log related to this error.  Can you send them to our support email box so we can diagnose the issue?

Hi Nick, We received the application event log you  sent and are reviewing it.  So far, we are not yet able to reproduce the error but are actively working to resolve the issue.  Can you provide some additional information:

  1. Your screenshots show two orgs defined.  Did you define the first org previously or did you define them both at the same time?  I'm trying to understand if you were at any time able to successfully exit the Manage Organizations dialog.
  2. If you go into Options and make a change, are you able to successfully exit that dialog when you click the "OK" button?
  3. Is your AppData folder redirected to a network or cloud share?
  4. Did you manually edit either the application .config file or the user.config file?

We just released a maintenance update yesterday.  Can you download and install that version and let us know if you still experience the problem?

I've reinstalled as you've requested and still get the same error. Also I've uninstalled the apps and reinstalled the apps. Still get the same error message

First I've tried to add a new org name then entered creds info the test button worked. Then clicked on "OK" button - error displayed see below. Also clicked on "OK" button again. Then another error message displayed - see below.  Finally clicked on the final "OK" button" the application closed down and disappeared.

I'm not sure what things I can try or is there a way to completely removed all info from registry for this app.

Another thing everything is on local drive except for Salesforce application.

Thanks

Thanks Nick.  We don't store any user data in the registry, so there's nothing there to clean-up.  Settings are stored in your AppData folder, typically C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Visual_Software_Systems,_.  In there you'll find one or more folders that start with "SOQLStudio.exe_Url_"  You can delete those folders.  We don't support installing the application on a network share, so you should install it locally on your PC.

Can you confirm for me when you get the first unhandled exception.  Is it when you click the "OK" button on the Test Successful message or when you click the OK button on the Manage dialog?

I've deleted folder C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\Visual_Software_Systems,_.   and started up the app and I was able to connect to SalesForce site.

My speculation is that somehow one or more files was corrupted and caused the problem.

Thanks for your support and patience, greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Perfect.  Thanks Nick.  We'll look at ways to automatically handle a corrupted user.config file and get that into a future release.
