How many installs are allowed under a single-user license, so long as it is a single user accessing?

Our licensing is a named-user license and as such doesn't limit the number computers you can install the software on, though installation on a server is prohibited.  Only individuals with a valid license for the version installed are authorized to use the software.

I have a question regarding the "server" prohibition.  I work for a company which specializes in converting installations on "legacy" systems (typically using SQL Server backups for the "source" data) to Salesforce.  Our clients often provision us with VMs which have a Windows Server OS installed.  The only things on the machines are SQL Server and associated tools.  The VMs are not used for typical server activities; all the work is done locally on the VMs.  Would I be able to license SOQL Studio under such circumstances?

Yes, as long as the VM is used in a workstation role and not as a shared resource that multiple user connect to (e.g. server role).

Perfect for my situation, and very reasonable.
